Miss Hamilton, Miss Murphy and Miss Harris
In Squirrels we are kind and caring towards one another, we look after our classroom, and we are proud of our achievements. We have had a busy Autumn term getting used to our new school and friends. We are very excited about the new Spring term ahead and the learning that will take place.
The first half term will involve reading and learning about different ‘Traditional Tales’, where we will explore different rhymes and poems. The second half term will involve ‘Living Things’, where we will learn about the life cycle of different animals and plants.
In English this term we are continuing with daily phonics through ‘Jolly phonics’. Squirrels have high expectations of handwriting and take pride in their presentation. All of the children try very hard with their letter and number formation. Across the term, we focus on fairy tales and will read the books Little Red Riding Hood, Sleeping Beauty, The Gingerbread Man, Three Little Pigs, Cinderella, The Hungry Caterpillar, Dear Zoo, Jack and the Beanstalk and Handa’s Surprise alongside various poems and nursery rhymes.
Our Maths focus will continue to develop and secure our knowledge within number, with fast recall of number bonds and problem solving and reasoning.
I look forward to another fantastic term with Squirrels class.
