Mr Pidgeon and Miss Warren
Welcome back for the summer term- your final term as primary school children! Firstly well done on your brilliant effort through lockdown and the return to school. We, as staff, have really appreciated it.
Our enquiry question this term is, ‘How have different species evolved and adapted to their place in the world?’ We’ll learn about ‘living things and their habitats’ and ‘evolution and inheritance’ in science. In geography, we’ll learn about climate zones, vegetation belts, biomes and climate change. Together, these areas of study will form a portfolio of work at the end of the year which the children will be able to show off.
This term is one of the best, we will be continuing our English work basing each week on a different Novel or text. Finishing our work on Skellig, we will move onto the days the crayons quit, King Arthur, The Explorer, Garbage King and our mystery play week. Throughout each week we will produced different types of text as well as revisiting grammar and further improving our read skills.
In Maths, we will be finishing the work on Algebra and geometry before moving onto ratio and proportion. Once we have finished these topics, we will revisit and recall all the previous topics of the year. Your weekly maths homework and timestbable rockstars will help you further improve. Keeping your arithmetic skills sharp is a key to being successful this year.
Later in the term, we will be focusing on the traditional end of year events for year 6. This will allow us, as a year group, to celebrate your successes. It will therefore be imperative to maintain and push forward on the high standards that Manor Court and you as a class have established.
The staff in this year group are so excited to share this final part of your primary journey and we look forward to the incredible things you will achieve in the next few months.
