This spring term, Otters will be focusing on a range of different areas. In English, we will be studying the novel ‘Skellig’ this exciting novel will form the base for a range of our writing from horror to discussion texts. The story will allow us to focus on the characters in detail and work on developing our skill with character development. Later in the term, we will be using ‘The Explorer’ as the starting point for a range of writing. We will focus on setting and character description using a range of writing devices.
In Maths, the children will be focusing on area and perimeter, algebra ratio and proportion and statistics. As we have in the Autumn term, the children will continue to work on their arithmetic skills and develop their problem-solving skills. Further to this, we will continue to revisit learning to help the children secure the concepts, they have already been taught.
In Geography, we will be focusing on trade and the trade links in the world. Children will explore whether trade is fair and how items get to us as consumers. The children will be examining the the enquiry question is all trade fair?. After this the children will explore the Mayan civilisation and how they shaped the world. In Science, we will be exploring animals including humans focusing on the body and how it reacts to certain stimuli.
