Nightingales had a very good term. We learnt many new things such as year 2 fractions and describing and naming shapes. Last half term in English we focused on writing different genres of writing from one text. The children particularly enjoyed the story about the Queen’s hat.
In English this term, we will be focusing on reading and grammar to prepare the children for their SATS to ensure they have the skills and knowledge. As well during this time, they will write recounts about the trips they have been on. Later on, we will write an information text, poetry and more narratives. Our Mathematics focus currently is statistics. They will be learning how to make a pictogram and block graph and then interpreting the information which is shown. Later on, we will learn how to tell the time. They need to know how to tell the time to o’clock, half past and in five minute intervals.
Our topic this half term is ‘what a wonder world’. After half term our topic is called Seasides. Both of these topics focus is on geography. For science this half term we will be learning about animals and their habitats. We will be completing lots of our learning outside.
We are very excited for the school trips we have planned for this term. We will be visiting St Mary’s church as part of our Religious Education unit where we need to find important things in the church. As part of our Science unit about animals and their habitats we will be visiting Ferne Animal Sanctuary for the day.
