Magpies class had a great first term and produced some excellent work they should be proud of. Children enjoyed our China topic and wrote some fantastic narratives based on The Willow Pattern Story. We also learnt about addition and subtraction, as well as money.
Our current topic is The Great Fire of London. In English we have begun exploring Samuel Pepys’ diary, which the children are really enthused by. We will be using our knowledge and experiences to write our own recount imagining we were there during the Great Fire of London. Later on in the term, we will look at persuasive writing and narratives.
Our Mathematics focus is multiplication and division. Children need to know their 2x’s, 5x’s and 10x’s tables by the end of the year. Later on, we will move onto fractions and properties of shapes.
After half term our topic is Kings and Queens. For the first half term in Science, we will be improving our investigation skills. We will then move onto learning about plants and what they need to grow.
