Welcome to Magpie class with Miss Nutt, Mrs Simmons, Mrs May and Mrs Wilkins. We are settling in well into our new class.
In Magpies, we work hard and take pride in our work and support one another.
We have had a busy term so far getting used to a new classroom and getting to know our new teachers. We have especially enjoyed our visit to Chard Museum to support our transport topic, where we learnt all about John Stringfellow and powered flight.
In English this term we will be looking at narrative writing using the stories of Mrs Armitage. We will also learning about recounts, non-chronological reports and poetry. Our maths will focus initially on counting, place value and then progress on to the four number operations. We will begin to learn our times tables, starting with 2’s.
Our topic this term is Travel & Transport, followed by The Great Fire of London. This will involve looking into how transport works the history of transport and the Great Fire. The children in Magpies also have the benefit of PE sessions this term with Mr Jackson.
We endeavour to change children’s books twice a week, and homework is set on a Friday, which consists of a spelling sheet and either a maths, literacy or topic activity. The spellings will be tested on the following Friday, and the activity will be collected on the following Thursday. Please don’t hesitate to contact one of us if you need any more information or have any questions.
