Welcome to Dragonflies with Miss Grabham and Miss Clarke. The children are working extremely hard and beginning to flourish. Our aim is to carry on working hard on our handwriting and achieving our individual goals. As a class we celebrate each other’s successes and support one another when we need to.
Our new topic this half term is Traditional Tales/Castles. In Geography and History, the children will participate in different activities such as, locating different countries on a map, the five oceans, looking at castles and stories from around the world. Our next topic after half term will be ‘Victorians’ where we will learn about famous people such as Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and will learn about the life of a Victorian. Across the term in Science we will be learning about human growth and animals.
In our English this term we will continue to look at handwriting, narratives, non-chronological and poetry. To begin the term Dragonflies have received a letter from the baker of the gingerbread man. Along with this letter the children have received gingerbread men to decorate. The children have then go on to write instructions. As a class we continue to work hard on our phonics, handwriting, capital letters and full stops.
In Mathematics we are focusing on multiplication, division, fractions, geometry, place value, money and time. We are working with higher numbers and challenging ourselves through problem solving and reasoning questions.
